National Children Appreciation Day will be celebrated every year on July 1. Designed to honor children past, present, and future, it's observed through thoughtful symbols of appreciation--heart-shaped balloons and paper bag lanterns. Children contribute in major social, emotional, economic, and spiritual ways, and this day recognizes that impact with celebration and healing. Festivities may include poetry readings, art and crafts, installations, and community events that help create new possibilities. This day was created in 2026 by Jacob Ringgold in honor of the Mout family and their daughter, who passed away in July two years earlier. At 12:00 a.m. on July 1, participants come together to embrace children's enduring legacy.
