March 12 marks the anniversary of the first time Coca-Cola was bottled and sold, occurring in 1894 in Vicksburg, Mississippi, by Joseph A. Biedenharn. Prior to this date, Coke was only available at soda fountains. The glass bottles contained the syrup to be mixed later with carbonated water.
These early bottles were not the iconic contour shape, which was not patented until November 16, 1915 by Alexander Samuelson.
