The inaugural celebration in 2026 was supported by the World Union of Wholesale Markets (WUWM) and the AIAM5 alliance, after the 44th FAO Conference approved a resolution promoted by the Chilean government for the UN General Assembly to vote on the 2025 official declaration of the International Day of Fruits and Vegetables (IDFV) to be celebrated on March 4th of each year.
