Snowmobiles allow for speedy mobility over snow-covered terrain. They are ideal for getting outside and going riding with friends, family, or loved ones.
Also known as snow machines, the devices have an interesting history. In the early 20th century, inventor and engineer Carl Eliason developed the first snowmobile prototype in Wisconsin, USA. This machine was designed to make winter transportation easier for rural residents in areas with heavy snowfall. The first commercial versions were produced by famed French-Canadian inventor and businessman Joseph-Armand Bombardier in 1935. Later versions added innovations such as electric start engines, improved suspension, and better track design.
Today, snowmobiles are more advanced than ever, offering features like heated seats and grips, electronic fuel injection, and even GPS navigation. They are widely used for winter recreation and transportation in many countries, especially in areas with heavy snowfall.
Established by Ski-doo in 2023, International Snowmobile Ride Day celebrates these amazing machines and reminds us of the better aspects of the winter season.
