In Call of Duty zombies mode, Element 115 is the source of the zombie outbreak. The date January 15th (1/15) derives from this piece of fandom, and the day is also referred to as 115 Day. Holding the universe together, Element 115 reanimates living flesh, and is called Moscovium in real life, or Divinium in-game.
Although inseperable from COD, National Zombies Day can be simply celebrated on its own merits as a recognition of the powerful effect the zombie genre has had on pop culture.
